Reminder for Volunteers Working with Vendors at Air Show

posted in: Special events | 0

Cadets and Senior Members working with the vendors this weekend – here are the final instructions. We have a few spots left, so if you haven’t signed up and would like to join us, please contact 2d Lt Flynn this evening. Parents are welcome to help as well!

Report time:  0745 at vendor/volunteer entrance to Air Show (follow gravel road from the parking area towards gate). Look for Capt Granda – he’ll be helping with assignments.

Parking area:  196 Perimeter Rd, New Windsor (the purple lot). Don’t use Newburgh for the town – it’ll bring you to the wrong address. If parking is full, use the lot at the Army Reserve Center – 910 Raz Ave, New Windsor. We’ll be set up checking people in working for CAP.

Dress code:
Grey t-shirt – our squadron PT shirt or any plain grey crewneck t-shirt. Michaels has them on sale this week for $2.00 if you need to pick one up. We’ve purchased a few, so if you don’t have one, we may have your size – please come to Reserve Center parking lot first.
Plain pants, capris or shorts – any plain color pants or jeans are acceptable if not ripped and worn looking.
Closed toed shoes or sneakers –  no flip-flops or sandals!
Baseball cap or something to keep hair back. A hair net will be provided for those that need it.

As a reminder, you’ll be helping from the start of the Air Show until close at 1700. A $10 lunch certificate will be provided. If you have any questions or problems this weekend, please contact 2d Lt Flynn at 845-220-6516. Thanks for helping the squadron with fundraising!

posted in: Special events | 0

Squadron and Parents,

Cadets and Senior members, please remember that the NY Air Show registration closes tonight. Use this link to sign up to volunteer with CAP at the Air Show:  https://nyw.cap.gov/swf/

We’ve also been given a fundraising opportunity to work with vendors at the Air Show on both Sept 15th and 16th. This offer is being extended to family members and friends of CAP personnel as well. Cadets under 16 working with vendors must volunteer with a parent or guardian. CAP members are encouraged to work with the vendors, but must wear civilian clothes and can’t also work with CAP on the same day.

Volunteers will be assisting in the food concession stands and beer carts (adults). Specific responsibilities include: Grilling hot dogs, frying french fries, preparing food (ie. wrapping sandwiches), cashiering and using the Square POS system. On-site training will be provided.

All volunteers will receive free admission and parking at the Air Show, a $10 voucher for lunch, and will be helping our squadron raise much needed funds! If you’re able to help, please register by Sunday evening, Sept 9th. Questions can be directed to 2d Lt Deb Flynn at deb.flynn@ny030.org. Use the following form to sign up, and thank you for your support of the squadron!

Assistance Needed – Fundraising at NY Air Show – 15 and 16 Sept

posted in: Special events | 0

Cadets and Senior Members are needed to assist with the fundraiser that Orange County Cadet Squadron participates in assisting the food vendors at the NY Air Show. This detail will not involve cooking or preparing food, just assisting with other tasks as needed by the vendors. This fundraiser is the only major fundraiser that Orange County Cadet Squadron participates in each year, so it is important for members to participate. It is possible for members to assist with this fundraiser on one day of the airshow and assist with other CAP operations on the other day or to assist on both days. All help is appreciated.

If able to assist, contact 1st Lt Kuliszewski by email (ezra.kuliszewski@ny030.org) or phone (845-238-1944) by this coming Friday.
