August 10-13 Training

Mid Eastern Group is hosting an ES Bivouac on 10-13 August in Greenville, NY. This bivouac will coincide with NYW TRAEX. We will be training at all levels for Ground Teams (GTM3 – GTL), Mission Radio Operator, Mission Base Staff (GBD-OSC, MSO), Mission Staff Assistants, Financial Section Chief, and Logistics.

They will have K-9(s) to train with and are working to get a helicopter ground school class. The site has showers and bathroom facilities. It also has limited electric hookups for trailers or motor homes. There will be plenty of areas for tents to be set up. They have arranged for catered meals for dinner. Food will be provided for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The cost will be $15 a day.

To participate you must have:

  1. Must be at least an Airman (Curry award), Level 1 for Senior members
  2. A GES endorsement on 101 Card
  3. Be safety current
  4. A valid CAP ID card (can be printed from eServices)
  5. Proper Field uniform (BDU/ABU)

Sign-up Form for NY State Fair

Our squadron will be helping to represent CAP at the NY State Fair in August.  We’ll be taking the van on 23 and 30 August. If you’d like to attend, please use the following form and either email it to 1st Lt Mazanec at mike.mazanec@ny030.org or bring it to the meeting next week (20 June). Forms are due
no later than 23 June and seating is limited, so those who sign up first will be given priority. Blues are required to attend.

Encampment signup deadline June 17th

Cadets,

The deadline to register for encampment is next Friday, June 17th. If you’re planning on attending and don’t have Part 2 of your application signed by Capt Granda yet, please make sure to bring it Tuesday evening. Any cadets who’d like to attend and haven’t earned their Curry Award yet (first promotion) need to email me asap at sean.flynn@ny030.org. I hope many of you will be going this year – here are a few things to consider:

  • encampment is needed to attend any National Cadet Special Activity (NCSA)
  • you’ll need encampment to promote beyond Chief Master Sergeant, which some of you are approaching
  • you’ll learn a lot about CAP at encampment and it will be a great experience you’ll always remember!

New York Wing recruiting event at 2017 New York State Fair

Central New York Group (CNY) is looking for assistance with a recruiting drive at the 2017 New York State Fair. This event brings people from all over the Tri-State area, so it is a good opportunity for recruiting for all units.The event will run from 23 August to 4 September and they are looking for Cadets and Seniors. Sign up deadline (with full commitment) is due by 25 June 2017. Please check your schedules and see if you can donate any time to this event. More information will be available at the next unit meeting as well as sign up sheets which must be returned to me to submit by 25 June.

Rockland ES Exercise 3 June

Rockland County Cadet Squadron has invited us to participate in an emergency services exercise at Harriman State Park on June 3. This will be a full day of training, and we will be covering tasks from GTM3, MRO and there will be an opportunity to test for ICUT. To participate you must have:
